Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park: An Aquatic Learning Experience

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park is located just east of Downtown Dallas at the Fair park grounds home of the famous Cotton Bowl and the State Fair of Texas.

The Dallas Aquarium features exotic marine and freshwater fish along with distinct reptiles and invertebrate. Although, the Dallas Aquarium is small in comparison, the aquarium definitely can hold its own in providing the most fascinating and interesting aquatic adventure. I was amazed and impressed at the many different species and various rare collection of marine life that this aquarium has acquired.

My favorite aquatic collections are, the “Alligator Snapping Turtle”, the “5-foot long Electric EEL”, and the huge Shark tank along with a massive stingray. The “Alligator Snapping Turtle” actually looks like a turtle with a shell that is big as an alligator. The “5-foot long Electric EEL” basically staked out its territory during the whole visit, however it was intriguing to watch. The Dallas Aquarium also features a “diving show” in the main tank so that patrons can ask questions about the aquarium. Also, do not forget the animal feedings daily at 2:30pm, the kids love it.

The Dallas Aquarium is full of aquatic facts and everyone will leave having learned a little something about marine life. This is a perfect outing for the whole family or just something to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon solo.

The House of Blues Coming to Dallas, Texas!

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Finally! The infamous House of Blues is coming to the Big “D”. Opening in May 2007, the House of Blues will be home to the magnificent Music Hall that artists who toured other major cities have entertained House of Blues enthusiast. The House of Blues in Dallas will also feature a Gospel Brunch, the famous Foundation Room and a restaurant that serves up American cuisine southern style.

The Gospel Sunday Brunch will feature inspirational gospel performances along with a mouthwatering and soulful brunch buffet. The Gospel Sunday Brunch is very popular in other major cities so I have a feeling that here in Dallas, the Gospel Sunday Brunch will be the hot spot after Sunday services.

The House of Blues in Dallas features two of the most elegant and inviting lounges for fun and entertainment. The Foundation Room is a member’s only lounge that offers private entertaining, fine dining and an exclusive concierge service. The Parish Room is a private getaway that is entertaining with elegant and plush surroundings.

What is the House of Blues without food? Be sure to sample the Club’s entire menu that includes classic southern cuisine sandwiches, southern specialties, sides and delightful desserts such as; the “Blues Burger”, “Creole Seafood Jambalaya”, “Sweet Potato Fries” and “Individual Homemade Apple Cobbler”. Visit the House of Blues website for a full menu.

The talented R&B singer, Dallas’s own Erykah Badu kicks off the concert and event series at the House of Blues in Dallas, May 2007. Visit the website for more artist appearances coming to the House of Blues.
