A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of whoever fired the shots Wednesday that wounded a Dallas woman and caused her to lose her unborn baby.
The reward, offered by Schepps Dairy, will be offered for six months, said Ed Spencer, spokesman for the company.
Police said Victoria Dexter, 22, was asleep at about 2 a.m. in her third-story apartment in the 500 block of South Good Latimer Expressway when shots shattered a patio window.
Dexter, who was eight months pregnant, was struck twice in the backside, said Senior Cpl. Donna Hernandez, police spokeswoman. The woman was in critical condition when she was taken to Baylor Medical Center and she lost the baby, Hernandez said.
Detectives believe the shots might have come from Interstate 45, which passes near the woman’s apartment complex. The area is on the eastern edge of downtown Dallas, northwest of the intersection of Interstate 45 and Interstate 30.
“It is unclear whether the shots were random or intentional,” Hernandez said. “Currently, detectives have shut down part of I-45 to search for any evidence related to this crime.”
Anyone with information about the shooting should call homicide detectives at 214-671-3661.
